The Sangria dates all the way back to the Middle Ages! You can find tons of different variations of the Sangria that have evolved since then, but the Spanish and Portuguese seem to have perfected this delicious fruity punch. At No & Low we think it’s time for proper non-alcoholic alternatives to the Sangria. The classic Sangria is usually made with red wine but we will also be sharing recipes made with white and rosé wine in this Sangria guide! Make room in your fridge because your mocktail game is about to reach new levels. Enjoy this virgin Sangria at your summer bbq, holiday event, or the next time you have some friends over.

 

Ingredients for the best non-alcoholic Sangria

The Sangria is fun and versatile, it doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. It can be made with many different ingredients but the most important factor will come down to using fresh fruit & fruit juices and good non-alcoholic wines & spirits. We’ve seen a lot of non-alcoholic Sangria recipes that just substitute the wine with juice, while this can still make a fine virgin Sangria adding non-alcoholic wines like Noughty Rouge will make a MAJOR difference. You don’t want to leave out this important ingredient.

Once you’ve got your non-alcoholic wine you’ll want to grab some fresh fruit. This can include oranges, lemons, apples, pears, blueberries and strawberries, almost any fruit will work in the right combination. Use our Sangria recipes as a guide and if you feel like adding some other fruit, feel free to do so.

How to make the best Classic Virgin Red Sangria?

This recipe will make 6-8 servings. You’ll need the following ingredients for your non-alcoholic Red Sangria recipe:

  • 1 bottle of dry non-alcoholic red wine, we recommend Noughty Rouge or Lautus Savvy Red
  • 1 orange, cut into wedges
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (leave out or add more depending on how sweet you like your Sangria)
  • Orange wheels for garnish

The process to make a non-alcoholic red Sangria is quite simple, just follow the steps below:

  1. In a large pitcher add the orange wedges, lemon wedges and sugar and very gently muddle it together.
  2. Add in your Noughty or Lautus non-alcoholic red wine, orange juice and apple slices, blueberries and cinnamon stick. Stir well.
  3. Place your pitcher of Sangria in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 4 hours. If you leave it too long the fruit may start to get soft and mushy.
  4. Once ready, pour in a wide wine glass over large ice cubes.
  5. Garnish each glass with an orange wheel.

Pro tips for non-alcoholic Red Sangria:

  • Add a non-alcoholic spirit for more flavor: Many Sangria recipes will call for a spirit like brandy, if you want to up the flavor of your non-alcoholic Sangria we recommend adding 4 oz of Lyre’s Highland Malt, Melati, Gnista Floral Wormwood, Spiritless Kentucky 74 or Monday Whiskey. If you want to get even more creative you can play around with adding spirits like Wilfreds, Ghia or Figlia.
  • Incorporate fresh herbs: A sprig of fresh rosemary or thyme can give your virgin Sangria a beautiful herbal flavor. Simply add the herbs to the pitcher or as a garnish when serving.
  • Use freshly squeezed juice: Fresh is always the way to the best non-alcoholic cocktails and it’s no different when comes to the NA Sangria. Put in the extra work and use freshly squeezed orange juice, the effort will do wonders.
  • Experiment with different fruits: Don’t be scared to play around with different fruits. You can use our Sangria recipe as a guide but if you’ve got kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, or other fruit on hand that you think will work, give it a try!
  • Add some bubbles: For those that want to liven up their Sangria top your glass with a splash of Figlia Frizzante or club soda before serving.

How to make the best Virgin White Sangria?

This recipe will make 6 servings. You’ll need the following ingredients for your non-alcoholic White Sangria recipe:

  • 1 bottle of dry non-alcoholic white wine, we recommend Noughty Blanc or Lautus Sauvignon Blanc
  • 4 oz Everleaf Forest
  • 1 peach, pitted and sliced
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1 green or yellow apple, cored and sliced
  • 3 mint sprigs
  • Club soda (to top)

The process to make a non-alcoholic White Sangria is quite simple, just follow the steps below:

  1. In a large pitcher add the lemon wedges and mint and very gently muddle it together.
  2. Add in your Noughty or Lautus non-alcoholic white wine, Everleaf Forest, peach slices, apple slices and stir well.

  • Try out different non-alcoholic spirits: Everleaf Forest makes this virgin White Sangria very complex and sophisticated but feel free to try this recipe with other non-alcoholic spirits as well. Lyre’s Orange Sec, Caleno Light & Zesty, and Lyre’s Dry Aperitif also work great!
  • Experiment with different fruits: The options are endless when it comes to adding fruit to your non-alcoholic White Sangria. We use peach, apple, and lemon in this recipe but we encourage to expriment with other fresh fruit like pineapple, grapes, pear, grapefruit, apricot, and blackberries.
  • Better bubbles: If you really want to impress your guests, finish your drinks by topping up the glass with No & Low Sparkling Chardonnay instead of club soda.
  • Like it sweet? Add sugar: If you like your Sangria sweet, definitely add in some sugar or simple syrup to your desired taste.

This recipe will make 6-8 servings. You’ll need the following ingredients for your non-alcoholic Rosé Sangria recipe:

  • 1 bottle of non-alcoholic Rosé wine like Noughty Rosé or Lautus Rosé

  • 4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 cup of raspberries
  • 1/2 of strawberries, sliced
